The first #NuBeHunt is over and we’re so excited to announce the winners!
Congrats to #TeamVashon for taking home the gold!
Second place goes to #TeamBurningWood and third to #TeamOddfellows!
We had so many great entries that we couldn’t limit the prizes to just three teams, SO we’re giving honorary $50 gift cards to #TeamAlyssaWins for her "NuBe like boobie" haiku and #TeamVance for their reused candle container.
Thanks to everyone who participated! We had so much fun viewing the entries. Here are a few of our favorites:

The world's attention is on Brazil and the World Cup, but not everyone is focused on the ball. Interpol is closely monitoring flight lists, border crossings, and tickets, looking for criminals who can't resist cheering on their national team. (Jose Diaz Barajas, a suspected Mexican drug trafficker, has already been arrested.) Fashion bloggers around the world agree that, while Italy may not have the best chances for winning the World Cup, their three-piece Dolce & Gabbana suits have already won many hearts. NuBe, too, is fully engrossed in the World Cup and eagerly cheering on the United States, but as a store dedicated to products that are U.S Made and sourced, we can't help but be disappointed by our uniforms.
As our twitter followers may remember, NuBe Green attended (and live tweeted) the GoGreen conference last month. The conference provided an opportunity for businesses and government officials in Seattle to get together and discuss, debate and educate each other on issues of sustainability and green business practices.
From food production to transportation and building maintenance, the conference’s keynote speakers covered a diverse array of topics, all addressing the need for businesses and governments to commit to making sustainability a priority.
Most of our customers know that NuBe Green's mission is to find unique, hand-crafted products that are U.S made and sourced and sustainable. Sustainability is an integral part of NuBe's identity, but as speaker after speaker used the word, I began to wonder: what does "sustainability" really mean?
I've been thinking a lot about the growing success of e-commerce and its effect on our local businesses. What would happen to the neighborhood I grew up in if our dependable grocery store of 60 years (which I've been frequenting for the past 51) went out of business? I personally know that many residents here would be devastated. I depend on them for that last minute cilantro I forgot to grab at Whole Foods, or that load of Ice Cream my stoned sister is craving.
